Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Austin, Texas for the 19th Annual DTDA National Convention or the first Regional Conference in Des Moines, Iowa. We sincerely hope that you enjoy your accommodations, workshops and time in the exhibit hall. It is the executive board's hope that you will leave this convention or conference refreshed, educated and motivated to begin your new year.

It has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience to serve you as DTDA President. I have truly enjoyed working with such a dedicated and talented board. I admire their loyalty and commitment to provide the members of DTDA with professional and quality materials.

My focus this year was to bring all Dance/Drill Team coaches, sponsors, and directors closer together. Our first attempt to accomplish this is to host a regional conference. I would like to thank the Iowa State Drill Team Association for their help in making this dream a reality.

You can truly be proud of you organization. We have made great strides in the past nineteen years. I hope that you will all make plans to attend the 20th National Convention here at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel in Austin, Texas April 15-18, 1999. If you are interested in serving on a committee please sign up during the general session at the National Convention.

I wish you and your family a wonderful spring and an eventful summer.

"You make a living by what you get but you make a life by what you give," this quote is by Winston Churchill and is one that I try to live my life by.

In the Dance/Drill Team Spirit,

Cathy Cook
