Turn Out Exciting Choreography

Add some spice to this year's spring show or recital and wake-up grandpa in the back row. With a change of tempo, levels, dynamics, and space, turn the ordinary turn into an extraordinary turn. These simple choreographic techniques will turn out exciting results.

TURN
· with different arms other than the standard first position
· in two circles moving in opposite directions
· in a pick-up with each dancer beginning on a different count
· on stage for the beginning of a routine
· out of a spiral
· off stage for the ending of a routine
· in the air and then drop to the ground
· in a circle
· alternating with high and low levels
· out and in
· by beginning slowly then building in speed
· with a partner
· making the spatial pattern of a square
· a somersault
· with a different leg position other than a passé or hook
· and face the back
· and link more turns
· to the left and to the right
· from upstage left to downstage right on a diagonal path
· on the floor and spin
· and end with a kick, leap, or jump
· individually or in small groups as the rest of the performers hold a pose
· and leap in a series for greater variety
· with a bent supporting knee for a more unique style
· and stop suddenly

Turn to the left
Turn to the right
Turn on stage under bright lights;

Turn in the air
Without a care
Go ahead and turn if you dare
