President's Perspective
Convention Issue, 1999
Annette Stark

CELEBRATE Good Times…Come On…Take a Walk Down Memory Lane! Can you
believe that this is DTDA’s 20th Convention? And, how proud I am to be
a part as we celebrate twenty years of excellence. We have so much to reflect
on…all of the wonderful people who have made it happen…beginning with our
Charter Members and Exhibitors, then our Honorary Lifetime Members, Past
and Current Board Members, and the Top Ten Directors from the past several
years. It is because of the works of these people that we are the outstanding
organization that we are today!
Since there are so many things to do at convention, it can become overwhelming!
Be sure to take the time to learn as much as possible from all of our various
workshops. With the experience and expertise of our presenters and over
thirty different titles to choose from, this is sure to be an unforgettable
educational experience. Our extravagant exhibit hall is open on Thursday
and Friday. This allows you time to visit personally with each and every
vendor and learn about the products and services they have to offer. Our
Fashion Show/Brunch/Business Meeting on Thursday is a great time to see
all of the clothing, costumes, and accessories being showcased by our exhibitors.
Make plans to be at our Social on Friday evening before the banquet so
you can be part of the overhead picture being taken of our entire membership.
And finally, the Banquet, where we will watch the spectacular performance
of our NASDT Dancers, then recognize all of the special people who have
made DTDA what it is today! The most incredible thing about convention
always seems to be the simplest…the time together with old and new friends…sharing,
caring, inspiring, and rejuvenating!
Finally, I would like to take this time to thank each of you for giving
me the opportunity to serve on the Executive Board for the past 4 years
as Sergeant at Arms, First Vice President, and now, President. It has been
both an honor and a privilege to do so. I have thoroughly enjoyed working
for the advancement of dance/drill team in this capacity. I have met many
lifelong friends and made so many memories that will never be forgotten.
I wish the best to the organization as it works towards the newly adopted
Future Outlook of DTDA which includes high expectations for the next five
years.
Farewell to all and may God bless each of you as you continue to touch
lives in the dance/drill world.
Your president,
Annette Stark
